Anirudh Krishnan is the founder partner of AK Law Chambers. Being a law graduate from NALSAR, Hyderabad, and completed the BCL course from Oxford University, Anirudh is also a qualified Solicitor of England and Wales. He handles commercial and public law litigation, arbitration and corporate advisory work of the firm.

His expertise in the field of domestic and international arbitration emerges from the authoritative two-volume book titled “Justice R.S. Bachawat’s Law of Arbitration and Conciliation” published by LexisNexis Butterworths Wadhwa Nagpur, of which he is the Chief-Editor and has contributed chapters in the international publications- “Handbook on Third-Party Funding in International Arbitration” and “CPR India Supplement”.

During his stint at Clifford Chance, London, he has worked in among other areas on international arbitration and commercial litigation. He has been part of teams that have been involved in numerous arbitrations including ICC, LCIA, SIAC, AMTAC and ICSID arbitrations in addition to a number of domestic arbitrations. He has also acted on behalf of numerous corporates and Public Sector Undertakings before Indian courts. Anirudh has been empanelled as arbitrator with Nani Palkhiwala Arbitration Centre and has been appointed by the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court as an arbitrator.

In addition to the above, Anirudh has also authored a book titled “The Law of Reservation and Anti-discrimination” published by the same publisher. Apart from these, he has published numerous articles on varied areas of law in several journals. He writes a regular column for a popular legal news platform – Bar & Bench (www.barandbench.com). He has delivered guest lectures in many of the national law schools in India and has presented papers at numerous national and international conferences including a seminar conducted by 39 Essex Street Chambers, London. He was also invited to deliver talks to the international arbitration teams of Clifford Chance LLP and Herbert Smith, LLP, London.

Anirudh was selected as an Inter Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) scholar in the year 2012 and is currently the Vice Chair of the Legal Development and Training Committee of the IPBA. He was appointed as an expert on Indian Law for an ICC arbitration in London and was cross-examined on his expert witness statement.

He was appointed as a Consultant to the Law Commission of India for the Report on Arbitration (2013-2014) and has received special appreciation in the Report. He has advised the Law Commission on the Report relating to “Commercial Division and Commercial Appellate Division of High Courts and Commercial Courts Bill, 2015” and is part of special research group set up by the Law Commission to advice the Government of India on Bilateral Investment Treaties the Government is proposing to renegotiate.  In addition, he was appointed by the Hon’ble Chief Justice as a Member of a Special Committee set up in a Public Interest Litigation to suggest reforms to certain backward regions in the State of Tamil Nadu; the Committee received rich praise for its work.

He is also a member of the Madras High Court Arbitration Committee, the drafting committee for the Mumbai Court of International Arbitration (MCIA), Steering Committees of the Indi-Italian Chamber of Commerce and the Young-MCIA.
